The trees, the water, the herons, the crows, the salamanders, the milkweed, the jewelweed, the jack-in-the-pulpits, the fairy shrimp... the land includes so many wise and wonderful teachers who lead our learning each week.

Traveling and living around the world has deepened my appreciation for the natural world. I have taught Kindergarten up to 11, and one of my deep passions is inspiring learning outdoors and making cross-cultural connections. I learn new things every season, and look forward to the connections and inspiration that each new day brings.

I have a deep connection to this area, my settler family roots run deep and I want to foster this connection and relationship with the Earth to the next generation. I am excited to teach alongside and learn with the other participants and facilitators, using our commonality of the land that we are on. As we remember those that come before us, we need to be mindful of those that will come in the next generations through our actions and decisions.
As pebbles or droplets in the water, we cause ripples. What type of ripples will each of us create?

I have always loved being outdoors. I would spend after school as a child playing in the forest near my home, pretending to be an elf living off the land, catching tadpoles in a jar, or making little bowls out of the clay I found in the riverbed. Some of my fondest childhood memories revolved around being outside.

When I became a mother I knew I wanted to be very intentional about passing this love of the natural world down to my children. Enrolling them in the Nature Connect programs was easily one of the highlights of their early childhoods and I am so grateful and excited to join them in the forest school world now as a facilitator.

Alongside my love for nature is my deep passion for working with children. I believe that every child deserves the chance to learn from and experience the natural world. With a background in working at Silver Lake Mennonite camp, I've had the joy of nurturing this connection through camp games, activities, and exploration. I am very excited to share the power of outdoor experiences to young minds this coming year!

I am excited to share the knowledge of the environment I’ve learned over the years with curious children. With experience in camp counselling and outdoor education at Silver Lake Mennonite Camp, as well as teaching swimming lessons and Sunday school, I’m very passionate about working with kids and giving them opportunities to learn in various ways. I believe outdoor education is the greatest way of learning about the wonderful planet we live on, and why it is so important to protect it. I look forward to spending time outdoors, helping children create beautiful memories of their own in the natural world.

My fondest childhood memories include gardening all day with my mum, watching butterflies drift from plant to plant, and taking long rainy walks, eyes searching the ground for earthworms or snails. My love for nature, paired with a passion to learn, has guided me throughout my teenage years and forced me to ask the important questions, such as how and why. Kids are very good at asking such questions, and I think it is important for them to not only experience the world they live in but also to understand it.
I look forward to sharing the wonders of the great outdoors with more young, curious minds, helping them discover and understand the incredible world around them.
