The trees, the water, the herons, the crows, the salamanders, the milkweed, the jewelweed, the fairy shrimp... the land includes so many teachers who lead our learning each week.

Traveling and living around the world has deepened my appreciation for the natural world. I have taught Kindergarten up to 11, and one of my deep passions is inspiring learning outdoors and making cross-cultural connections. I learn new things every season, and look forward to the connections and inspiration that each new day brings.

Shauna has been an educator both in the classroom and outdoors since she was in her youth. She enjoys being outdoors, connecting and interacting with nature through creation of visual art, nature journaling, creative writing and in relationship with nature.
Shauna has a deep connection to this area, her settler family roots run deep and she wants to foster this connection and relationship with the Earth to the next generation. She is excited to teach alongside and learn with the other participants and facilitators, using our commonality as the land that we are on. As we remember those that come before us, we need to be mindful of those that will come in the next generations through our actions and decisions.
As pebbles or droplets in the water, we cause ripples. What type of ripples will each of us create?

I have always loved being outdoors. I would spend after school as a child playing in the forest near my home, pretending to be an elf living off the land, catching tadpoles in a jar, or making little bowls out of the clay I found in the riverbed. Some of my fondest childhood memories revolved around being outside.

When I became a mother myself I knew I wanted to be very intentional about passing this love of the natural world down to my children. Enrolling them in the Nature Connect programs was easily one of the highlights of their early childhoods and I am so grateful and excited to join them in the forest school world now as a facilitator.
